BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

DELTA STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, AGBOR The School of Nursing, Agbor, was founded in October, 1981, under the Government of Chief Ambrose Ali in the then Bendel State. The School started in a long classroom hall, build by Ika Club and Local Government Council. As soon as the school took, off, several visitations were made by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (N&MCN) to the school and Central Hospital, Agbor. This earned the school full accreditation. The school was in full operation until 30th June, 1987 when it was phased out by then military government. The Ika Community having taken note of the positive impact of the institution on the populace took over the running of the school on 1st July, 1987. However, following the creation of states in 1991, the Delta State Government once more took over the school in January, 1992. The Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria in a bid to maintain standards in Nursing Education and Practice has severally visited the school for resource verification and the last visit was in May 2023 whereby full Accreditation was granted the school to operate as College of Nursing Sciences.
